Prince William County crews have started the the design of the actual 9-11 memorial on the ellipse at the county's government center in Woodbridge VA "along with the conservation of the steel," according to Brendon Hanafin, chief of the county's Historic Preservation Division. Residents are invited to stop by and watch. Hanafin hopes the memorial will be completed by Sept. 11.

Prince William County VA officials have reached a three-year extension with Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) in their participation of the 287(g) program which allows Prince William County to turn over criminal illegal aliens apprehended by Prince William County law enforcement officers to ICE.

Two series of Prince William Cooperative Extension's popular anger management course, "When Families Get Angry," begin in July. One course meets in Woodbridge. The other course meets in Manassas. Each course runs for six weeks on Tuesday evenings.

Prince William, City of Manassas and Manassas Park children, youths & teens who read over the summer through the Prince William Library System's "Summer Quest" have the opportunity to receive ice cream, pizza, pretzels, kids meals, bowling, laser tag games, bus passes, frozen yogurt, and entrance to the County's waterparks and the county fair due to donations from 70 local businesses.

Prince William County Schools' Virtual High School is among the honorees in the Center for Digital Education’s first Digital Content and Curriculum Achievement Awards. The school began in 2000. More than 9000 students have taken a virtual course.

A request from Pete Candland to county staff for information on the new county logo was about to cost him $350 to $500 recently, Reece Collins, a Candland staff member, reported June 19. Candland, a Republican, represents Gainesville District on Prince William Board of County Supervisors.
