Western PWC Del. Lovejoy to file five anti-data center bills

Western Prince William Delegate Ian Lovejoy (R-22) has issued a news release saying he will submit five unique pieces of legislation aimed at mitigating growing data center impacts, particularly in Prince William County.

Liberia’s master plan wins prestigious American Planning Association award

A Master Plan for the restoration of Liberia Plantation in the city of Manassas was named the Outstanding Preservation Plan during the American Planning Association's Virginia Chapter Annual Awards, according to Patty Prince, public affairs specialist for the city. Liberia, built in 1825, was occupied by both Confederate and Union forces.

Manassas City hires economic development director

Patrick J. Small has been hired as Economic Development Director for the City of Manassas, according to an announcement from City Manager William Patrick Pate. Small's first day on the job will be Aug. 11, 2014. He was Director of Economic Development for the City of Portsmouth, VA.

City of Manassas residents to receive new trash carts starting June 16

In an effort to beautify City of Manassas neighborhoods with uniform containers for waste and recycling, City of Manassas residents will receive brand new trash carts for their household trash needs.

City of Manassas wins Virginia Downtown Development Award

Manassas city's Main Street Streetscapes project in 2013 has won a state award. It widened narrow sidewalks to allow for outdoor dining and improved pedestrian access, added brick crosswalks intersections and planted 19 trees to enhance the beauty of the street.

City of Manassas government has created an online public records database at http://www.manassascity.org/publicrecords Recor.ds will continue to be added to the database as they are digitized and indexed. City Council meeting minutes back to 1963 are currently being digitized and will be added within the coming months.

Manassas sets May & June public meetings on stormwater fees

With new federal and state regulatory requirements, the cost of managing stormwater for the City of Manassas has dramatically increased. Public information meetings about the new stormwater requirements and the proposed fee will be held in May and June.
