Western PWC Del. Lovejoy to file five anti-data center bills

Western Prince William Delegate Ian Lovejoy (R-22) has issued a news release saying he will submit five unique pieces of legislation aimed at mitigating growing data center impacts, particularly in Prince William County.

Committee of 100 to debate PWC Strategic Plan on Feb. 16

Committee will explore what Prince William County's Strategic Plan really does in a panel discussion on Feb. 16. Does it reflect the needs and wants of PWC residents, or is it a political tool for a predetermined government agenda? Does it work with the Comprehensive Plan and budget realities? Should the process be outsourced? Open to the public.

Prince William County’s Jan. 14 Human Rights celebration postponed to Feb. 9

Due to the possible inclement weather predicted for, Saturday, January 14, Prince William County Human Rights Commission has decided to postpone its celebration of Universal Human Rights Day. The celebration will be held on Thursday, February 9, at 7 p.m. in the Board Chamber of the McCoart building.

Volunteers needed Feb. 25 for a muddy job on Powell’s Creek

Prince William Public Works Department, Prince William Trails and Streams Coalition, and Prince William Soil & Water Conservation District are teaming up to clean up a portion of Powell's Creek near Riverwoods at Woodbridge Apartments Feb. 25, and they are inviting the public to help. The event starts at 9 a.m.

Dumfries Neighborhood to reopen at new location on Feb. 21

The new Dumfries Neighborhood Library is scheduled to open Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 18115 Triangle Shopping Plaza in Dumfries. A public celebration of the move is planned for Saturday, Feb. 25, at 10 a.m.

Annual recycling report from businesses / nonresidential properties in PWC due by Feb. 15

Sec. 22-169 of the Prince William County Code requires all businesses and non-residential properties located in Prince William County to annually report their recycling activities to the Department of Public Works by February 15 for the previous calendar year, according to a news release.

PWC Fire & Rescue looking for residents or businesses to “Adopt-a-Hydrant”

Prince William County Department of Fire & Rescue in conjunction with Prince William County area Home Depot stores is soliciting community assistance during its Adopt-A-Hydrant program. This program will enable residents and/or businesses to adopt a fire hydrant close to their home or business–maintaining the area around the hydrant by keeping it free of snow during the winter and free of weeds and shrubbery in the summer.

County Senior Center in Manassas celebrates 30 years of operation

Prince William Supervisor Marty Nohe said the senior center would not have been built if not for the foresight of the contemporaries of those who use it today. "It was your generation that was saying 30 years ago, 'We need this for our future.' Now you are here getting to take advantage of the vision."

Agenda for Jan. 24, 2018 Prince William Board of County Supervisors' meeting beginning at 2 p.m. has two times for citizens to speak– one in the afternoon and one in the evening. There is one public hearing at 2 p.m. and three public hearings in the evening session beginning at 7:30 p.m. - two rezonings and consideration of the Strategic Plan for 2017-2020. The meeting will be in the board chambers at 1 County Complex Court, Woodbridge, the main county government building off Prince William Parkway.
