Prince William County's Community Services Board will host its annual afternoon of Mental Health Awareness at the Dr. A.J. Ferlazzo Building in Woodbridge on Wednesday, Oct. 11, from 3 to 7:30 p.m. to educate, inspire and dispel myths about mental illness.

Prince William County Housing Office to receive $3.1 million in federal grant funds for programs

The Prince William County Office of Housing & Community Development (OHCD) reports that itwas recently notified that it will receive $3.1 million through federal grants to assist area residents who are in need of decent housing, a suitable living environment, and aid in economic opportunities for low and moderate-income persons.

Gainesville Supervisor Pete Candland sets Oct. 11 & Oct. 18 town halls

On Wednesday, Oct. 11, Gainesville District Supervisor Pete Candland will be holding a tele-town hall at 7:30 p.m. On Wednesday Oct. 18, residents of the Manassas/Sudley area are invited to attend a town hall at the Bull Run Library. The meeting will be held in Community Room A at 6:30 p.m.

Prince William County personal property taxes due Oct. 5; nine ways to pay

Prince William County Department of Finance reminds residents that personal property taxes are due on or before Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017. There are nine ways to pay the bill. Tax collection offices and phones will accept payments until 6:30 p.m. Oct. 3, 4 and 5.

Town meeting Oct. 11 on Fact, Fiction and Future of Rural Crescent

A Brentsville District Town Hall Meeting on "The Rural Crescent - Fact, Fiction and the Future will be held by Supervisor Jeanine Lawson and Delegate Rich Anderson on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. at Brentsville District High School, 12109 Aden Rd., Nokesville, VA 20181.

New animal shelter to be built in Prince William County at an estimated cost of $14.1 million

The Prince William Board of County Supervisors agreed Sept. 19 to construct a new 28,105 square-foot animal shelter, which will cost an estimated $14.1 million. Board chairman Corey Stewart said it will take care of the county's needs for the next 40 years.

Prince William County Department of Transportation (PWCDOT) is conducting a traffic study through Facebook and Twitter to review feasible options to improve traffic flow and safety on the U.S. 29-U.S. 15 corridor, which would minimize impacts to the Buckland Historic area and surrounding historic, cultural, scenic and environmental areas.
