For the first time, Prince William County Public School students will have a representative on the School Board, beginning with the Board’s next meeting on Nov. 29. Hylton High School senior, Kate Arnold, will be a non-voting representative on the Board. Potomac High School’s Magin Sanchez, and Zaki Panjsheeri of Patriot High School will serve as alternates.

Prince William County Police Department, in conjunction with the Virginia and Prince William County Departments of Emergency Management, has begun deploying officers to Puerto Rico to assist first responders in that area with the ongoing recovery efforts from Hurricane Maria which devastated the area in September. Today, Nov. 8, the first rotation of eight officers will fly to the region for a 14-day assignment.

Manassas City Council voted unanimously Oct. 16 to enable Catholics for Housing (CFH), a Northern Virginia nonprofit group, to purchase the East End mobile-home park for $1.4 million as long as certain requirements are met, including resolving the significant water, sewer and management issues that have plagued residents for years, according to a news release from the Diocese of Arlington.

Prince William Board of County Supervisors recently approved a lease agreement with Family Off-Road Riders of Prince William County, or FORPWC. and a special use permit to allow off-road vehicles at 25-acre Lehigh Portland Park, at 13865 Nokesville Road, in Nokesville. The organization will lease the 25-acre county-owned park and will finance, clear, build and operate an off-road vehicle riding track on 14 acres of the park.
