Crossing Guard Appreciation Day Feb. 14 across Virginia

The Board of County Supervisors (BOCS) has designated Wednesday, Feb. 14, as Crossing Guard Appreciation Day in Prince William County. This is a statewide observance sponsored by the Virginia Department of Transportation’s “Safe Routes to School” program, and a way of saying "thank you" to those who help students cross the street or streets safely on their way to and from school.

Kate Arnold, PW School Board’s student representative, to hold town hall meetings for students

Kate Arnold, student representative to the PWCS School Board, has scheduled town hall meetings to solicit opinions on school matters from students. Students wishing to speak will be asked to sign in at the beginning of the meeting. Speakers will have three minutes to speak. The first town hall is Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. at Battlefield High School.

Public can listen to presentation and comment on proposed FY 2019 PWC school budget Feb. 12

The public will have an opportunity to share their views on the proposed budget when Superintendent Walts and school finance officials present the proposed budget to the public on Monday, Feb. 12 beginning at 7 p.m. in Room 1101 of the Kelly Leadership Center.

The theme of this year’s celebration, “Advancing Opportunities for All,” reflects the top priority of local school board members as they advocate for public education with local, state, and federal leaders.
