Freestate Farms has a contract with Prince William County to run the Balls Ford Road Composting facility, as well as build an advanced composting facility to greatly improve yard waste processing and boost the capacity to process other food waste.

The Board of County Supervisors will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Minnieville Road project on Thursday, Dec. 13, at 11 a.m. The ceremony will be held in the parking lot of Howison Park, located 14716 Minnieville Road.

The Prince William Board of County Supervisors announced Dec. 4 that a division of Corporate Office Properties Trust (NYSE: OFC) ("COPT") plans to construct two new data center facilities in the Data Center Opportunity Zone Overlay District in Innovation Park. Construction of the first building has begun.

Prince William Board of County Supervisors authorized the County Attorney Dec. 4 to engage with outside legal counsel to investigate potential legal actions against entities engaged in the manufacturing, marketing, sales and distribution of opioids.

Prince William County Human Rights Commission will be "Celebrating Our Diversity in a Time of Adversity" at a town-hall-style meeting on Dec. 10 from 7 to 9 p.m.at Colgan High School where county leaders will discuss the rights and the protection of the people in the county, especially in times of adversity

Proposed attendance boundary changes may impact students now attending 19 schools in eastern Prince William County, including all six elementary schools in Lake Ridge, nine in Woodbridge and four in Dale City. The changes are due to one new school being built and five schools where classroom additions are under construction.

Prince William County is currently in the process of developing the 2040 Comprehensive Plan. To get residents' ideas, the county's Planning Office will host two community meetings. One meeting was already held Oct. 30.
