The Town of Occoquan recently received a new historical marker, situated at the base of the Nathaniel Ellicott footbridge and the town’s River Mill Park. This new marker details the history of the Ballendine Ironworks and the Janney Cotton Mill.

There will be a special election, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, for the Prince William Board of County Supervisors Neabsco District seat. The winner will fill the seat held by former Supervisor John Jenkins, who died on Feb. 6. Democrat Victor S. Angry and Republican Devinder Singh are running to replace Jenkins. The chosen candidate will serve out the remainder of the current term, which ends Dec. 31 of this year.

A Town Hall/Charrette for the Dale City Small Area Plan will be held at two meetings, one tonight (Monday, March 11, 2019) and one on Thursday, March 14, 2019. Attendance on both nights is strongly encouraged.

Residents can learn about plans for the Balls Ford Road interchange construction project at Va. 234 at a meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, at Gainesville Middle School, 8001 Limestone Drive, in Gainesville.

Chief Barry Barnard of the Prince William County Police Department will host his 13th “Conversation with the Chief” on Thursday, March 14, at West Gate Elementary School located at 8031 Urbanna Road in Manassas beginning at 7 p.m.

Some 32 Prince William County, Virginia Dept. of Transportation, and Virginia Railway Express projects are in the pipeline or are under construction, according to a quarterly report issued by Prince William County.
