A new curbside yard waste collection program begins Oct. 1 in Prince William County. Yard waste will be collected separately from trash and recycling. Yard waste must be placed in biodegradable paper bags or containers labeled “Yard Waste”. Do not use plastic bags for yard waste collection.

Suspects in three robberies all demanded money

On Friday, Sept. 17, at 9:42PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to the 2700 block of Potomac Mills Cl. in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a robbery. The victim, a 16-year-old male juvenile, reported to police that while on the sidewalk in the above area, he was approached by two unknown men asking for money. When the victim refused, one of the men implied he had a weapon before both men grabbed the victim and took his property.

Most businesses in Prince William County must file Recycling Report by Oct.15

Businesses in Prince William County must now complete and file an annual recycling report with the Department of Public Works by Oct. 15 each year. Code changes that took effect in January 2021 moved the reporting deadline from Feb. 15 to Oct. 15. Homes businesses and businesses based in incorporated towns are exempt.

The Atlantic hurricane season continues through Nov. 30. Conditions still exist for an above-average hurricane season, according to the annual mid-season update from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Climate Prediction Center, a division of the National Weather Service. There’s still time to obtain flood insurance coverage before the end of the season, says the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) that oversees flood protection in Virginia.
