The Prince William Republican Committee will meet at Park Valley Church in Haymarket tonight so Gainesville District Republicans can choose a candidate for Gainesville Supervisor. Carol Fox, the GOP's Gainesville District chairman, will chair tonight's meeting. The candidate will be on the ballot in a Feb. 21 Special Election being held to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Pete Candland.

The mass meeting is planned to be held on January 4, 2023, at Battlefield High School and will be open to any registered voter residing in the Gainesville district who promises to support the election of the candidate nominated.

With a second opinion from the Commonwealth's Attorney on his ability to vote, Candland said..."the limitations on my ability to perform as Supervisor have become severely more restrictive."
"According to the opinion of the Commonwealth’s Attorney, I cannot participate in any Comprehensive Plan vote. In addition, it also states that I cannot participate in any vote on any data centers in Prince William County until the PW Digital Gateway rezoning is settled."
