Sen. Mark Warner and a group of 15 senators from both parties took to the Senate floor Jan. 25 to call for a temporary reopening of the government to allow for a negotiation on a bipartisan border security bill. The President embraced this bargain in a Rose Garden press conference, and the Senate passed that agreement unanimously.

Yesli Vega and Paul O'Meara recently told the Prince William Republican Committee that they will seek the GOP nomination for the Coles District Supervisor seat currently held by Martin Nohe, who plans to run for chairman at-large of the Board of County Supervisors. Supervisor and board chairman elections will be held in November, 2019.

U.S. Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) released the following statement Sept. 7 on his decision to vote against the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. He said, "“I acknowledge that Judge Kavanaugh is a hard-working public servant who has won the admiration of many...in these troubling times, I fear his confirmation to the Supreme Court would compromise judicial independence and threaten critical precedents.”
