Taxpayers are encouraged to pay their taxes before the Dec. 5 due date. A late payment penalty of 10 percent will apply to any unpaid tax balance after the Dec. 5 deadline. Additionally, interest will accrue monthly on unpaid balances at a rate of 10 percent per annum until they are fully paid.

Suspect sought in Manassas bank robbery on May 22

On Monday, May 22, 2023 at 3:28 PM,Prince William County Police Department officers responded to the Bank of America located at 7701 Donegan Dr. in Manassas (20109) to investigate a robbery. The investigation revealed an unknown man entered the bank and demanded money from the teller. No weapon was seen, police said.

Undergraduate tuition at Univ. Mary Washington to stay same for 2023-24; other fees to rise

The University of Mary Washington Board of Visitors approved tuition and fees for the 2023-24 academic year at its May 18, 2023, meeting. Undergraduate tuition will remain the same in the coming year. Graduate tuition will increase 3 percent and the auxiliary comprehensive fee and housing and dining fees for all students will increase by 5 percent.

Prince William Board of County Supervisors adopts budget, sets tax rates, raises salaries

“This Board has been committed to diversifying the county’s tax base, and we are seeing the results of that with this budget, allowing for us to invest in our community and our workforce while providing residents a flat tax bill for the first time in 14 years,” Chair At-Large Ann Wheeler was quoted as saying in the county's news release. The Board adopted a 6 percent market adjustment for all general government, or civilian, positions, and a 15 percent adjustment for sworn/uniformed personnel in Fire and Rescue, the Adult Detention Center and the Sheriff’s Office, as well as a 15 percent increase for Public Safety Communications telecommunicators, the news release said.
