Western Prince William Delegate Ian Lovejoy (R-22) has issued a news release saying he will submit five unique pieces of legislation aimed at mitigating growing data center impacts, particularly in Prince William County.

Encouragement and fast-track rezonings for data centers in PWC

Data centers now okay in all Prince William County industrial, office and commercial zoning districts; fast-track rezoning approvals for data centers within the Data Center Opportunity Zone will be promoted, according to action by Prince William Board of County Supervisors May 17. A Data Center Opportunity Zone was established for properties totaling 10,000 acres "where supporting infrastructure is readily available or easily provided with minimal impact to residential properties," according to the news release.

PWC Board keeps same tax rate and revenue split with PWC schools

It was standing room only in McCoart Government Center May 6 as Prince William Board of County Supervisors voted 5-3 to keep a flat real estate tax rate at 1.112 per $100 of assessed valuation and to retain the existing revenue sharing arrangement it has with county schools.

George Mason University tuition moderately increased for 2016-17

George Mason Board of Visitors May 5 approved the university’s $1 billion budget for the 2016-17 academic year. This includes a 2.7 percent increase in tuition, fees, room and board for in-state students and more money for financial aid. For out-of-state students, the increase is 2.9 percent.
