Western Prince William Delegate Ian Lovejoy (R-22) has issued a news release saying he will submit five unique pieces of legislation aimed at mitigating growing data center impacts, particularly in Prince William County.

Office of Facilities Services for Prince William County Schools will hold a March 9 public meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. at Gainesville Middle School to share information on a new location of the proposed 13th high school.

On March 3 at 9:18AM, Prince William County Police officers responded to the Wells Fargo Bank at 2867 Dale Blvd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a robbery. An employee reported to police that an unknown man approached the bank area, then passed a note demanding money, according to a report from Officer Nathan Probus, Prince William County Police Department spokesman.

School officials slate seven town hall meetings on the School Board budget

Prince William County School Board members have scheduled seven Town Hall Meetings on the budget process March 3-9. Three of the meetings are on Monday, March 6 and two of the meetings are on Tuesday, March 7. The meeting dates, times, locations and hosts are noted below.

2,000+ Norfolk and Portsmouth residents sign up to receive toll relief

Governor Terry McAuliffe Feb.. 24 announced more than 2,000 Norfolk and Portsmouth residents will receive financial assistance for Elizabeth River Tunnels tolls beginning Wednesday, March 1, 2017. Toll Relief, the first program of its kind in the nation, offers a 75-cent per trip refund to qualified Norfolk and Portsmouth residents who frequently travel through the Downtown and Midtown tunnels.

School Board chairman to hold town meetings on school budget March 3 and March 6

A work session on the 2017=18 proposed school budget previously scheduled for March 2 has been cancelled. School Board Chairman Ryan Sawyers will hold two Town Hall meetings on the budget, Friday, March 3, 6:30–8 p.m. at Mullen Elementary School and Monday, March 6, 6:30–8 p.m. at Forest Park High School.

Bill to allow women to get year supply of birth control headed to Virginia Governor’s desk

Del. Eileen Filler-Corn’s bill to allow women to obtain a year’s supply of birth control pills at one time, passed the House on February 7th, cleared the Senate Feb. 16 and will be sent to the Governor’s desk. HB 2267 will require health insurance plans that cover contraceptives to allow women to purchase a year’s supply of birth control pills at one time.
