Stewart to propose tax reform to raise $14 million more annually for schools and public safety

Corey A. Stewart, chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, says he will unveil a five-year plan today, April 17, "to reduce the tax burden on County residents and provide significant new funding for schools and public safety." He will propose eliminating an existing tax break for data centers to generate $14 million a year for the next five years.

Anglers beware: DGIF issues advisory on websites claiming to sell Virginia fishing licenses

DGIF reminds anglers that http://www.GoOutdoorsVA.com and www.dgif.virginia.gov are the only official websites to purchase Virginia fishing and hunting licenses and permits. DGIF said in a news release that some of the sites it is aware of customers have reported completing transactions believing they were buying a license or permit, when, in fact, they purchased an informational guide.

Novant Health reports healthy 2017 financial results

Novant Health reported net income of $477.9 million on operating revenues of $4.6 billion for 2017. The not-for-profit health system also reported $794.4 million in total community benefit (including charity care and unpaid cost of Medicare and Medicaid), up from $725.5 million in 2016.

Isabel Lee, a freshman at Battlefield High School, is the high school winner of the Virginia Lottery Thank a Teacher Art Contest, according to a news release.
