Western PWC Del. Lovejoy to file five anti-data center bills

Western Prince William Delegate Ian Lovejoy (R-22) has issued a news release saying he will submit five unique pieces of legislation aimed at mitigating growing data center impacts, particularly in Prince William County.

Virginians are urged to prepare for brunt of hurricane season and check for flood insurance coverage

The Atlantic hurricane season continues through Nov. 30. Conditions still exist for an above-average hurricane season, according to the annual mid-season update from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Climate Prediction Center, a division of the National Weather Service. There’s still time to obtain flood insurance coverage before the end of the season, says the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) that oversees flood protection in Virginia.

Police recognize suspect on surveillance tape; suspect arrested

When officers arrived and reviewed surveillance footage, a man, later identified as the accused, was observed using a large rock to damage the front door to make entry inside. Officers recognized the man from previous interactions and subsequently located him in the area of a nearby business where he was detained without further incident.

Social Security asset reserves projected to be depleted in 2034

The combined asset reserves of the Old-Age and Survivors Insurance and Disability Insurance (OASI and DI) Trust Funds are projected to become depleted in 2034, one year earlier than projected last year.

$5000 reward offered for information about Aug. 27 shooting in Freedom High School parking lot

Detectives with the Prince William County Police Department's Violent Crimes Bureau are continuing to solicit information from anyone in attendance at the football game at Freedom High School at 15201 Neabsco Mills Rd in Woodbridge (22191) on the evening of Aug. 27. Police found two injured teens in the achool parking lot.

Rt. 1 ABC store held up by duo in black who fled in a vehicle reported stolen

An employee of the store reported to police that two unknown men approached the counter with selected merchandise. During the encounter, one of the suspects brandished a firearm and demanded money from the cash registers. The second suspect then grabbed the money from the cash registers before both men fled.

PW Police identify one suspect in burglary/attempted burglary spree on Aug. 2

On Aug.12, detectives with the Prince William County Police Department's Property Crimes Unit identified one of the suspects sought in connection to the series of commercial burglaries and attempted burglaries which were reported to have occurred in the Dumfries (22025) and Woodbridge (22193) areas on the morning of Aug. 2, according to Master Police Officer Renee Carr, public information officer.
