Nokesville man named top conservation volunteer in nation

Duane Mohr has received the Natural Resources Conservation Service’s (NRCS’) highest award for volunteerism, a news release said. The agency selected Mohr as the nation’s top individual volunteer for outstanding contributions to the Earth Team Program through his work with the Prince William Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD).

Community asked to help get weekend food program for kids back on track

A devasting blow happened to the weekend food program for kids in September when the transfer of funds from one sponsoring church to a new sponsoring church was planned. The transfer of $25,000 was taken by unknown hackers during the course of the transfer. The FBI, Loudoun and Prince William County police departments are all investigating the fraud.

Bugler Donna Flory named Prince William County’s Volunteer of the Quarter

Desiree Wolfe, of the Prince William County Office of Executive Management, nominated Donna Flory as PWC Volunteer of the Quarter. The presentation reads in part, “Over the last two decades, Donna has played in various ceremonies and dedications in honor of Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day and 9/11.  Her rendition of ‘Taps’ continues to bring dignity and meaning to these very important events." 

Prince William Conservation Alliance named ‘One of the Best’ Nonprofits by philanthropy group

The Catalogue for Philanthropy: Greater Washington has selected Prince William Conservation Alliance to be part of its 2018-19 class of best local nonprofits in the region. Executive director Kim Hosen says the accolade is due to community support for PWCA programs.
