IRS offers help to military members and veterans with their unique tax needs

AARP Virginia Fraud Alert for July 18: Veterans Fraud Resource Center

One out of every three American veterans has had a scammer try to steal his or her benefits, according to AARP. This statistic highlights how veterans, active-duty service members and their families are nearly 40 percent more likely to lose money to scams and fraud. To help combat these scams, AARP recently launched an online resource center focused on veterans-related scams.

Emergency preparedness exercise scheduled this week for the North Anna Power Station

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will evaluate a Biennial Radiological Emergency Preparedness Exercise for communities around the North Anna Power Station, which is located about 35 miles south of Prince William County. The exercise will occur during the week of July 18, 2022, to assess the ability of the Commonwealth of Virginia to respond to an emergency at the nuclear facility.
