Governor gives a boost to youth entrepreneurship initiatives in Virginia

Governor Terry McAuliffe Aug. 24 signed Executive Order 47 establishing the Governor’s Council on Youth Entrepreneurship. The council will be responsible for coordinating and implementing youth entrepreneurship initiatives and fostering the growth of the entrepreneurial ecosystem for young people in Virginia.

Va. sales tax holiday on school, emergency, energy-efficient items,clothing, footwear this weekend

Virginia has combined its three "sales tax holidays" into one weekend. This Friday through Sunday, Aug. 7-9, along with school supplies, clothing and footwear, shoppers can now buy emergency preparedness items and certain energy-efficient products that were previously tax-exempt only during their own respective tax holidays.

It’s official. According to a proclamation by Governor Terence R. McAuliffe, Aug. 2-8 is Farmers’ Market Week in Virginia. In the proclamation, Governor McAuliffe says that farmers’ market in Virginia have grown dramatically, from 88 markets in 2006 to nearly 250 in 2015.

US judge rules that Va. can remove Confederate flag from license plates
