Virginia to pilot Military Medics and Corpsmen job program for veterans

Governor McAuliffe ceremonially signed the Military Medics and Corpsmen bill, establishing the Virginia Military Medics and Corpsmen (MMAC) Pilot Program on June 27. Virginia is the first state in the nation to offer this kind of innovative pathway to employment for these highly skilled veterans.

Future site of a new state park to be on 600 acres in western Loudoun County

Some 604 acres of the 900-acre Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship land preserve, donated by the Robert and Dee Leggett Foundation to the Old Dominion Land Conservancy, were acquired June 14 by Virginia's Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR). The plan is to use the acreage located in western Loudoun County for a new Virginia State Park.

VDOT to close Aden Road June 25-26 for pipe repairs if weather allows

The Virginia Department of Transportation will close Aden Road (Route 646) to through traffic between Joplin Road (Route 619) and the southern intersection of Parkgate Drive from 5 a.m. Saturday, June 25 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 26 for pipe replacement, weather permitting.
