McAuliffe to host cyber-physical systems conference to stay on top of trends and ahead of criminals

Virginia's governor Terry McAuliffe will host his first Cyber-Physical Systems Summit on Sept. 20-22 at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility in Newport News. The purpose of the summit, in conjunction with the National Governors Conference, is to build awareness of the growing challenges associated with securing autonomous systems, critical infrastructure and the Internet of Things.

McAuliffe and Va. delegation on trade mission to Columbia Aug. 16-19

Juan Carlos Pinzón, Colombian Ambassador to the United States, invited Governor McAuliffe earlier this year to lead an agricultural trade and marketing mission to Colombia to grow the relationship between Virginia and Colombia and capitalize on the benefits of the U.S.-Colombia Free Trade Agreement, which came into effect in 2012.

Bristow Road (VA 619) to be closed Aug. 16 for train track repairs

Virginia Department of Transportation will be closing Bristow Road (VA 619) to through traffic between VA 28 and Lucasville Road Tuesday, Aug.16 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to continue railroad crossing repairs begun on Aug. 13.

Crews doing final paving for I-66 widening; expect more off-peak delays in Haymarket area

Virginia Department of Transportation will allow some extended lane closures in off-peak directions on Interstate 66 in the Haymarket area between US 15 and Prince William Parkway for crews to more efficiently complete final paving on the I-66 widening project.

Check trees in August for the Asian Longhorned Beetle

Although the Asian longhorned beetle (ALB) has not been found in Virginia, the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) encourages residents to check for this invasive pest by looking for signs in their trees and firewood transported from other states.
