VSP Special Agent Michael Walter dies after shooting in Richmond

Virginia State Police is mourning the loss of its 63rd member to die in the line of duty since 1932. Special Agent Michael T. Walter, 45, succumbed to his injuries from a shooting shortly after 5 a.m. Saturday (May 27, 2017) at VCU Medical Center in Richmond.

Virginia State Police and City of Richmond Police are actively searching for a male subject who shot a Virginia State Police Special Agent Friday evening (May 26) in the 1900 block of Redd St. in City of Richmond. The suspect is described as a black male of medium build approximately 5’8 to 5’10 in height. He has close-cropped hair and was wearing a red, possibly plaid, button-up shirt with ¾ inch sleeves and khaki cargo shorts or pants.

Interstate 95 north ramp to VA 123 north to be closed May 10 at night for paving

The loop ramp from northbound I-95 to northbound Route 123 (Exit 160 B) will be closed the night of Wednesday, May 10 between midnight and 5 a.m. for paving, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Tourism in Virginia shows 3.3% revenue increase compared to 2015

Governor Terry McAuliffe has announced that 45 million visitors from across the United States spent $24 billion in Virginia in 2016, or nearly $65 million a day. This was a 3.3 percent increase over 2015, outpacing the national growth rate quoted at 2.7 percent, a news release stated.
