Justice Research and Statistics Association (JRSA) has presented Virginia’s Criminal Justice Research Center in the Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) with the Doug Yearwood National Publication Award for Excellence in Research/Policy Analysis, according to a news release from the Governor's Office.

UPDATED - Governor Terry McAuliffe has approved a $350,000 grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund to assist Prince William County with a renovation-expansion of U.S. Foods' distribution facility in the Manassas area. Funding and services to support the company's employee training activities for about 100 new jobs over the next five years will be provided through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program, according to the Governor's Office.

Virginia State Police were still on scene at 8:30 a.m. with an overturned fuel-carrying tractor trailer on I-64 westbound just west of the 147 mile marker in Louisa County. Admiral John C. Harvey Jr., who opened the new Virginia Office in Veterans Affairs in Manassas in July is leaving Virginia government for the Institute for Defense Analyses as the Director of Strategy, Forces and Resources Division. A portion of the ramp from southbound I-95 to Dale Blvd (Route 784) will be closed between 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4 and 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 5 to pave the realigned ramp, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
