Mattie Quesenberry Smith, VMI writing instructor, chosen Virginia’s Poet Laureate

Smith has served as a First Year Writing and Rhetoric Instructor at the Virginia Military Institute since 2013, teaching courses in rhetoric and writing. She is a published poet and has received numerous awards for her work.

Delegate Robert G. "Bob" Marshall has asked Governor Bob McDonnell to call a Special Session of the General Assembly to consider Delegate Marshall's legislation to offer some relief to those affected by the federal shutdown and any future shutdowns.

Prince William County Parks and Recreation is hosting its annual Holiday Walk of Lights at Neabsco Regional Park for the third year. The FREE lights display begins Friday, Dec. 6. New this year: Visitors can experience the magic of the holiday season with visits from holiday characters, joyful holiday music sung by carolers and an unforgettable holiday shopping experience on select nights.
