On or about Monday, July 7, Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will open the southbound High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes on I-95/395 no later than noon, rather than 1 p.m. The HOV lanes will close to northbound traffic at 10 a.m., instead of 11 a.m., Mondays through Fridays.

Governor Terry McAuliffe says Ithaca will be filmed in Virginia this summer, with actress Meg Ryan directing and playing a role in the movie along with Sam Shepard and Ryan’s son, Jack Quaid. Tom Hanks and his production company Playtone will be executive producers on the film set during WW II and based on William Saroyan’s 1942 book The Human Comedy.

Atif Qarni, who teaches pre-algebra to eighth grade students at Beville Middle School in Woodbridge, has been appointed by Governor Terry McAuliffe to serve on the Virginia Small Business Financing Authority, according to a news release from the governor's office.
