Today, March 23, Governor McAuliffe signed Executive Directive #4 to establish the Center for Behavioral Health and Justice, an interagency collaborative to better coordinate behavioral health and justice services.

Dale City area affected by lane closures on I-95 south late March 19

Both southbound I-95 collector/distributor lanes for Dale Boulevard (Exit 156) will intermittently close between 9 p.m. Thursday, March 19 and 5 a.m. Friday, March 20 for signage work. Each closure will last up to 20 minutes.

Kudzu, bamboo and privet are on new list of invasive plants in Virginia

Gardeners considering adding English ivy, golden bamboo or Japanese barberry to their yards in Virginia may want to reconsider. These plants — and 87 others — are on the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation’s (DCR) new list of non-native invasive plants of the state, according to a news release.

In declaring a state of emergency, the governor authorizes state agencies to identify and position resources for quick response anywhere they are needed in Virginia. This action does not apply to individuals or private businesses.
