Prince William Committee of 100 will explore the economic impact of the military presence on Prince William County in April.

Gov. Terry McAuliffe on Jan. 9 opened a new office of Virginia Dept. of Veterans Services to serve veterans and transitioning servicemen and women and their families who work in the headquarters of the US Department of Defense. The new VDVS Pentagon location marks the 30th office location in the state. In addition, 30,000+ veterans have been hired through our Virginia Values Veterans (V3) program since its inception five years ago.

Currently, the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008 allows certain servicemembers to transfer all or some of their unused education benefits to their spouse or dependent children. The EARNED Act would expand that eligibility to any active duty or retired member of the Armed Forces who has at least 20 years of active-duty service.

The Potomac Region Veterans Council (PRVC) announces that a National Veterans Day ceremony will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Quantico National Cemetery beginning at 11 a.m. It is open to the public.

Governor Terry McAuliffe broke ground Oct. 26 on the new Puller Veterans Care Center at Vint Hill in Fauquier County. The 128-bed long-term care and rehabilitation facility will be built on 30 acres located on the former Vint Hill Farms Station.

College representatives will provide information about NOVA programs, workforce development and financial aid. NOVA-Woodbridge Military Appreciation Day will be held in the Lakeside Theatre, located on the first floor of the Seefeldt Building (WS). The event is free and open to the public.
