Rep. Comstock joins SALUTE bill aimed at helping vets overcome addiction and PTSD

Rep. Barbara Comstock has joined in co-sponsoring legislation that would provide yearly federal funding for veterans’ treatment courts. These courts would help veterans coping with addiction and other mental disorders receive specialized care when accused of certain non-violent crimes.

Virginia offering new healthcare options for veterans

Virginia is the first state in the nation to develop provider agreements between Federally Qualified Health Centers and the VA through the Veterans Choice Program. To date, four Federally Qualified Health Centers, with 22 sites of care have signed up to provide health services to eligible veterans. These sites are located in the Fredericksburg, as well as Eastern Shore, New Canton, Louisa, Charles City, Aylett, Prince George, Alberta, Charlotte Court House, Victoria, Amelia, Emporia, Dinwiddie, Ferrum, Floyd and Laurel Fork.

Monthly history talks start Jan. 29 on WWII and Vietnam

Prince William County government's Historic Preservation Division is beginning a series of free "lectures" on World War II and the Vietnam War. The talks will be on the last Thursday evening of the next five months starting Thursday, Jan. 29.

Virginia publishes new special ed guide for military families

Virginia Department of Education has developed a new guide for military families with children in special education. The 16-page guide provides information and answers to questions that military families with school-aged children might have about special education programs in Virginia public schools.
