The Memorial Day Ceremony at the Freedom Museum at Manassas Airport will start at 2:30 PM with the reading of the names of Prince William service members who died during their military service followed by the National Moment of Silence at 3:00 PM and then the official opening of the PFC. Cadet Samantha Reed of Manassas became regimental commander of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets during a Pass in Review - Change of Command ceremony May 2. Reed is a junior majoring in meteorology in the College of Natural Resources and Environment.

el. Richard L. Anderson (Colonel, U.S. Air Force, Retired), will present the Congressional Gold Medal posthumously to surviving family members of Mr. Albert L. Jones, Sr., of Manassas, who served during World War II as a wartime member of the Auxiliary of the U.S. Army Air Forces, the Civil Air Patrol (CAP).

Board of County Supervisors will hold an Armed Forces & Memorial Day Ceremony at the War Memorial in Freedom Park on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at 10 a.m. Freedom Park is located on the grounds of the McCoart Government Complex in between the complex and Prince William Parkway.

Governor Terry McAuliffe March 24 announced the protection of 65 acres of Civil War battlefield in Williamsburg. The land is being donated by Anheuser-Busch to the Civil War Trust, a nonprofit organization devoted to preserving America’s battlegrounds. The property played a pivotal role in the 1862 Battle of Williamsburg, the first pitched battle of the Peninsula Campaign.
