Operation Green Light for Veterans in Stafford

In advance of the upcoming Veterans Day holiday, Stafford County is illuminating the George L. Gordon, Jr., Government Center and the Stafford Armed Services Memorial green from October 24 – November 11 as part of Operation Green Light for Veterans.

Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace to invest $191 million to establish U.S. facility near Williamsburg

Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace Inc., a global provider of defense and aerospace systems, will invest $71 million to establish a 150,000-square-foot facility in James City County near Williamsburg. The company will invest an additional $30 million in other costs. Virginia successfully competed with two other states for the project, which will create 180+ new jobs, according to the governor. Va. officials pointed to a recent European trade mission as vital to the deal.

Virginia War Memorial to lead Commonwealth’s Sept. 11 tribute at 11 a.m.

There is no admission charge. Free parking is available in the Virginia War Memorial surface lot and parking deck at 621 South Belvidere Street, Richmond, VA 23220. The Virginia War Memorial will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for visitation and the documentary film, A New Century, A New War, will be shown all day in the Memorial’s Reynolds Theater.

9-11 memorial event on Manassas Museum lawn on Sept. 11
