Motorists are urged to prepare for winter weather and avoid driving on icy roads. VDOT anticipates snow, sleet and freezing rain to impact much of the state late tonight through early Monday morning, with the heaviest hit areas in the western and north central regions of the state. One to four inches of snow and ice accumulations are forecasted.

A new “Virginia is for Lovers” license plate will become the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles’ (DMV) standard-issue plate beginning next March. The new plate design will replace the plain blue and white plates which have been the standard for the past couple of decades.

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has issued a record of decision on the 25-mile Tier 1 environmental impact statement (EIS) study of Interstate 66 from the Capital Beltway to Haymarket, clearing the way for the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) to select one or more of the final ten concepts for detailed analysis.

Gainesville area drivers note that southbound US 29 will be closed just south of Linton Hall Road from 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25 through 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28. Crews will remove and replace the bridge over North Fork Broad Run.
