Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) will conduct a public hearing tonight, Tuesday, April 28, starting at 6 p.m. on the draft Six-Year Improvement Program (SYIP), which allocates $12.9 billion to transportation projects over the next six fiscal years beginning July 1, 2015.

Eric Marx named interim executive director at PRTC

Eric Marx, PRTC’s Director of Planning and Operations, has been appointed interim executive director of the transportation agency effective May 15. PRTC’s current Executive Director Alfred Harf informed the Commission earlier this year of his intent to resign after 16+ years as the organization’s leader and agreed to time his departure to suit the Commission’s need for an orderly transition.

Controversial Bi-County Parkway project appears to be off the table

VDOT is not actively working on the Bi-County Parkway including pursuing the Programmatic Agreement or the environmental approvals from the Federal Highway Administration.’ In effect, this letter presents a significant roadblock to this project that sought to close Rt. 234 and traffic calm Rt. 29 through the Manassas National Battlefield Park, which would have affected hundreds of homeowners and businesses including the historic Sudley Methodist Church, according to Del. Tim Hugo, one of the projects major opponents.

DMV 2 Go at three Prince William area locations in April

Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles’ mobile customer service centers, called DMV 2 Go, will be traveling across the state in April to serve customers and will be at three locations in the Prince William County area--Woodbridge on April 1, Manassas Park on April 7 and Manassas on April 20.

Dale City area affected by lane closures on I-95 south late March 19

Both southbound I-95 collector/distributor lanes for Dale Boulevard (Exit 156) will intermittently close between 9 p.m. Thursday, March 19 and 5 a.m. Friday, March 20 for signage work. Each closure will last up to 20 minutes.

PRTC’s OmniRide to participate in “Bus on Shoulder” pilot program

Something new is coming for PRTC's I-66 commuters. Starting March 23, PRTC's OmniRide commuter buses will be authorized to drive on the paved shoulders in specific areas of I-66 inside the Beltway when the regular lanes are highly congested as part of a Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) one-year pilot program.
