Several nighttime work zones will be active on northbound and southbound Interstate 95 this week in the Fredericksburg area, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). I-95 travelers are advised to use US 1 or US 301 to avoid delays. Message boards on I-95 will provide advance notice of lane closures and detour routes.

Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission (PRTC), the local bus company, will again participate in Try Transit Week and Car Free Day – two events that encourage people to find alternatives to driving solo. The seventh annual Try Transit Week will be Sept. 21-25. The educational event is designed to reduce the use of single-occupancy vehicles in favor of buses, trains, vanpools and ferries.

The City of Manassas Park reported late Friday that it has contracted with Branscome Paving, Inc. to perform road resurfacing on Manassas Drive between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Friday ending Friday, Sept. 4.
