Starting Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) is adding a new round trip train to its Fredericksburg Line. Schedule changes will be made to all Fredericksburg and Manassas line trains to accommodate the increase in service.

Governor Terry McAuliffe Nov. 24 announced major projects to improve transportation on I-95 and I-395 in Northern Virginia.

Tickets to ride the Dec. 12 Virginia Railway Express (VRE) Santa trains go on sale at 9 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 23 at http://www.vrespecialevents.org and select vendor locations. In 2014 all tickets sold out online in eight minutes and within 1 ½ hours at vendor locations even though VRE added one more train to the Manassas line and placed restrictions on ticket sales.

Vint Hill Road (VA 215) between Schaeffer Lane and Determination Drive will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20 to 4 a.m. Monday, Nov. 23 so that crews can perform water main and storm sewer line work, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Virginia delegation colleagues Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA), Rep. Don Beyer (D-VA), and Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-VA) joined Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (DC) to meet with incoming Metro General Manager Paul Wiedefeld today, Nov. 17.

Featherbed Lane will be closed to through traffic at Lee Highway Nov. 17 & 18 for paving in Manassas National Battlefield Park, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Ashton Avenue opened to through traffic between Crestwood Drive and Lomond Drive today Nov. 17 as crews finished replacing a damaged culvert, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. Earlier VDOT had estimated a Nov. 18 reopening.
