Department of Defense Services employees who live in eastern Prince William and work at the Mark Center in Alexandria can catch OmniRide buses locally and ride them to and from work beginning Monday, Feb. 1. The first day of operation will be a free fare day.

Crews are making significant progress on 16,000 subdivision streets across northern Virginia. The Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) goal is to make one lane of all subdivisions passable by 6 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 27. The City Manager has put in placed parking prohibitions on all City of Manassas Park Streets designated as snow emergency routes until 6 pm, Tuesday, January 26, 2016.

Snow is melting and pooling in travel lanes and will turn into ice overnight. Therefore, VSP advises those who are having to travel overnight or early Monday morning to use extreme caution. Black ice will be a serious threat and drivers are advised to keep their speeds down, buckle up, and remain alert to slick spots on the road.

City of Manassas declared a Snow Emergency effective at 8 a.m. on January 22 through January 24 at 6 p.m. This means that cars parked along designated snow emergency routes are subject to towing and fines.

By 2 p.m., about 4,000 trucks loaded with materials will be fully staged along interstates, major roads and subdivision streets in Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William counties (Arlington maintains its own secondary roads). Crews will work 12-hour shifts around the clock and plow interstates, major roads and subdivisions simultaneously.
