School bus delays possible along US 1 this afternoon - Monday, Feb. 29

Bus delays are possible along the US Rte.1 corridor this afternoon due to a (non-school related incident) incident earlier today involving an overturned vehicle. Delays that begin with high school and middle school transportation could create ripple effects for elementary buses.

VDOT advises delaying using roads today, Feb. 16, until temperatures rise

Virginia Department of Transportation advises delaying travel this morning, until pavement temperatures rise and create better driving conditions. Crews continue treating roads glazed by overnight freezing rain, and as of 5:30 a.m., roads in northern Virginia range from wet, to slushy, to ice-covered, but all pavement has the potential to be slick and dangerous.

VDOT asks drivers to plan ahead for Tuesday commutes

Virginia Department of Transportation asks drivers to plan now for their commutes Tuesday, as several inches of snow are forecast to impact both the morning and evening rush hours in northern Virginia. Drivers are asked to monitor forecasts for changes or heavier weather bands that may impact their schedule, and to plan accordingly to telework, delay commutes or allow extra time for a slow and cautious trip.

Nighttime closing of HOV lanes on I-395 on Feb. 3-4 for inspection

Weather permitting, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close the northern portion of the I-395 High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes during overnight hours beginning at 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 3-4. The closures are needed for crews to inspect and assess roadway and sign conditions as part of preliminary work related to the future extension of the I-395 Express Lanes.
