The police investigation revealed the driver of a 2021 Toyota Tundra was traveling eastbound on Bristow Rd. when the vehicle crossed over the center line and into the westbound lane of travel--striking a 2003 Lexus GX in a head-on collision. The impact of the crash caused the Lexus to spin off of the roadway and come to a rest in the ditch while the Tundra remained on the roadway.

The winner of the Virginia Derby will be awarded 50 qualifying points, which has historically secured a post position in the starting gate for the 151st Kentucky Derby now scheduled to be held on May 3, 2025, at the legendary Churchill Downs Racetrack in Louisville, Ky.

Detours: Rt. 28 and Rt. 29 ramps at Centreville closed for paving starting Wednesday night, July 31

Weather permitting, the Route 28 (Sully Road/Centreville Road) and Route 29 interchange ramps will have nighttime closures Wednesday night, July 31; Thursday night, Aug. 1 and Sunday night, Aug. 4 through Thursday night, Aug. 8 between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. each night for paving, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Glenkirk Rd. in Nokesville to be closed at Vint Hill Road July 24 for tree work

Motorists needing to reach properties along Glenkirk Road will have access; however, access to Glenkirk Road will be via Hamill Run Drive and points northward. Through traffic will be detoured via Vint Hill Road, Rollins Ford Road and Hamill Run Drive back to Glenkirk Road. Drivers are asked to follow posted detour signs.

OmniRide service changes take effect July 29

OmniRide’s next Service Change will take effect on Monday, July 29. Schedules for Express, Metro Express, and Local routes will change on that date. OmniRide Express base fare will increase to $11 from $9 each way. The reduced fare will be $5.50. The Monthly Unlimited Pass will increase from $265 to $285.
