The kindergarten classes at Antietam Elementary School have been watching two eaglets through the Earth Conservation Corps live eagle cam for several weeks. Their suggested name of "Honor" is one of five picked from 250 entries. Now the public gets to vote on the five names.

Manassas City's 2018 Arbor Day Celebration, the 34th annual, will be held at Kinsley Mill Park at 8844 Hastings Drive, on April 20 at 10 a.m.

Due to a fire, the Prince William County Balls Ford Road Yard Waste Composting Facility, located at 13000 Balls Ford Road, Manassas, will be closed until further notice.

Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts is preparing for a small prescribed fire today April 6, from 10:30 a.m. to at least 1:30 p.m., weather permitting. The planned fire will be adjacent to the parking lots at the Native Meadow with the goal to maintain wildlife habitat, soil nutrition replenishment and controlling woody and invasive species.

FEMA says it will conduct the 2018 National Level Exercise for the whole community, inviting government agencies, private sector and non-profit organizations, and individuals to participate in the biennial exercise April 30 – May 11.

Governor Ralph Northam announced April 4 that Framatome, a designer and supplier of nuclear steam supply system and nuclear equipment, services, and fuel for high levels of safety and performance, will relocate its North American corporate headquarters from Charlotte, NC, to the City of Lynchburg.

It'll take two days in April to plant a pollinator garden, get a bee hotel built, and install honeybee hives on nearly half an acre at the Prince William County Landfill Complex. Volunteers are needed to help with the work on April 14 and April 21 from 8 a.m. to noon on both days.

Manassas National Battlefield Park (MNBP) will conduct a scheduled burn between April 3-13. According to the MNBP Superintendent, the planned fire will be adjacent to the eastern edge of the Brawner Farm area and will cover up to 45 acres of open fields and scrub.
