Western PWC Del. Lovejoy to file five anti-data center bills

Western Prince William Delegate Ian Lovejoy (R-22) has issued a news release saying he will submit five unique pieces of legislation aimed at mitigating growing data center impacts, particularly in Prince William County.

Most businesses in Prince William County must file Recycling Report by Oct.15

Businesses in Prince William County must now complete and file an annual recycling report with the Department of Public Works by Oct. 15 each year. Code changes that took effect in January 2021 moved the reporting deadline from Feb. 15 to Oct. 15. Homes businesses and businesses based in incorporated towns are exempt.

Prince William Fire and Rescue Crews arrived shortly after a 6:20 AM dispatch for a reported chemical spill in the 7500 block of Notes Drive, Manassas, with several employees reporting difficulty breathing, according to Matt Smolsky, Assistant Chief.

Virginia Department of Forestry has deployed 39 employees to serve as ground forces on fire line crews or as support staff in fire management roles throughout the west. The firefighters from Virginia will be fighting blazes in remote locations, under adverse weather conditions. Assignments are normally for a 14-day period, not counting travel.

Nokesville and Evergreen trash service changing to self-serve

Trash and recycling collection staff at the Nokesville and Evergreen sites will no longer remove material from customers' vehicles. Residents should "come prepared to use this program on a self-serve basis," according to a county news release.

PWC supervisors earmark $930,000 toward master planning for new libraries and senior center

Current and forecasted population growth in the Woodbridge Magisterial District shows that the district needs a new library and that the senior center and Potomac Community Library are hard-pressed to meet current demand. Each project will receive $310,000 toward the in-house staffing, engineering, and architectural services needed to develop a master plan that will guide design, construction, and programming.
