Emergency preparedness exercise scheduled this week for the North Anna Power Station

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will evaluate a Biennial Radiological Emergency Preparedness Exercise for communities around the North Anna Power Station, which is located about 35 miles south of Prince William County. The exercise will occur during the week of July 18, 2022, to assess the ability of the Commonwealth of Virginia to respond to an emergency at the nuclear facility.

Alexandria Social Security office closing adjusted

The Alexandria Social Security office located at 5510 Cherokee Avenue, Suite 200, Alexandria, VA, office closing dates have been adjusted to Thursday, July 21 through Friday July 29. The office will be closed for renovations.

Northern Virginia Food Rescue to provide free food at some Prince William Public Libraries

NVFR is coordinating with some Prince William Public Libraries to get food to people who need it through its Summer Food Distribution program.
