Prince William County has solicited entries in a design competition to add to its 9-11 memorial- Liberty Memorial at Freedom Park - using four steel beams acquired from the destroyed World Trade Center. The board of supervisors will be making a selection from one of a dozen submissions, from around the country and from both design companies and individuals, according to Tracy Gordon, assistant to the county administrator.

PWC’s new park and ride lot adds 553 more spaces at new Telegraph Road facility

The new Telegraph Road Park and Ride Facility in Woodbridge VA opened today with 553 parking spaces, including 23 designated for handicapped, and a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Prince William Board of County Supervisors and Sean T. Connaughton, Virginia Secretary of Transportation. The facility is being used for a two-year comparison test of LED fixtures from five manufacturers with standard lighting products.

After a brief evacuation as a precaution, the Prince William County Fire Department has given Vaughan Elementary School students and staff the "all-clear" to reenter the school building in Woodbridge.

Prince William County VA Police Department's crime reports for Tuesday, Sept. 4 include felony child abuse in the case of an eight-month-old baby left strapped in a child's seat in the back seat of a abandoned car that was running, the alleged strangulation of a 16-year-old by a family member and the alleged stabbing of a family member by an 18-year-old.

Vaughan Elementary evacuated as a precaution

Students and staff have been evacuated from Elizabeth Vaughan Elementary School on York Drive in Woodbridge VA as a precaution, according to the Prince William County Schools community relations office at 12:42 p.m.
