An Aug. 27 town hall meeting at Lake Ridge Baptist Church in Woodbridge being organized by Prince William Del. Richard Anderson will focus on what Virginia is doing to mitigate the effects of sequestration. Meeting will include Virginia Secretary of Veterans Affairs and Homeland Security.

Saying that “Nothing is more important to me as an elected official than voters’ trust in their government," Delegate David Ramadan, who represents part of the Prince William County area, has called for an immediate special session of the General Assembly on ethics reform.

Virginia Department of the Treasury’s Unclaimed Property Program in Richmond has issued a warning to consumers on a new email scam targeting potential unclaimed property owners about a large sum of money from a deceased relative.

Organizers of the State Fair of Virginia are accepting applications from Virginia-based performers for the event’s local music venue, the Triple Crown Amphitheater at The Meadow Event Park. One-hour slots are available on each day of the fair’s 10-day run Sept. 27-Aug. 6. There is no fee or payment involved.

It’s official! The City of Manassas has been designated the World Record Holder from Guinness World Records for the largest game of Red Light/Green Light. On May 4, 2013 the City of Manassas Neighborhood Services attempted the world record for this game during the Big Day of Serving 2013.

The restriction on starting vehicles has been lifted in connection with the July 11 fuel spill at Braemar Village in Prince William County VA. according to a 4 a.m. news release. Residents on Merrimont Trace Cir and Manor Hall Ct, directly across Sudley Manor Dr from the shopping center, will not be able to leave their homes by vehicle due to the location of the crash.
