Novant to lift visitor restrictions at hospital in Manassas

Beginning 8 a.m. tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 5, all Novant Health facilities including the hospital in Manassas will lift visitor restrictions that were put in place Jan. 2, according to a news release. During the height of this flu season, Novant asked the community to keep visitors younger than 18 years old out of its hospital facilities.

DMV working to open customer centers today, Jan. 31, fixing IT issues

Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) was originally closed on Saturday, Jan. 31, as a result of a service failure of the state’s IT service provider.  Systems are being recovered and DMV is working to open as many offices as possible today, according to a news release at 10:27 a.m.

Social Security to extend field office hours four days a week nationwide

Social Security announces as a result of Congress’ approval of the fiscal year 2015 budget, the agency will expand its hours nationwide and offices will be open to the public for an additional hour on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, beginning March 16.

“Animal Law” unit with specialist lawyers now part of Virginia attorney general’s office

Virginia Attorney General Mark R. Herring Jan. 22 announced the designation of the nation's first Attorney General's "Animal Law" unit, a small group of current staff attorneys who will spend a portion of their time, as needed, serving as a resource for local law enforcement and state agencies on issues involving animal welfare and animal fighting or abuse.
