Aug. 22 discovery of human remains in Nokesville now a murder case

Based upon the investigation, detectives from the Prince William County Police Department's Homicide Unit have identified the victim as Miguel Angel RUIZ CARRILLO, 18, of Alexandria. The victim was previously reported as missing and endangered by Fairfax County Police on August 8.

Nokesville neighbor calls police when injured boy, 10, asks for food

On August 22 at 3:39PM, officers responded to the 12700 block of Aden Rd in Nokesville (20181) to investigate a found child. The investigation revealed that a 10-year-old boy knocked on the front door of the caller’s home and asked for food. The child appeared to be suffering from injuries to his body along with his clothes being dirty and in disrepair.

County Police locate human remains in Nokesville, near VA 28 and Fauquier Drive

On Tuesday, Aug. 22 at approximately 7 p.m., Prince William County Police located human remains in an area near Nokesville Rd and Fauquier Dr in Nokesville (20181), according to Sgt. Jonathan L. Perok, police department spokesman.

August 17 update on Equine Herpes Myeloencephalopathy in Virginia

On August 15, the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) reported that its Animal Health Laboratory in Warrenton confirmed a diagnosis of Equine Herpesvirus-1 (EHV-1) on two horses from Culpeper County. A third horse on the quarantined farm developed a fever the evening of August 16 and tested positive for the neuropath genic strain of the Equine Herpes Virus -1. The quarantine is extended until September 6th.
