Between an increase in Virginia's truck registration fees, and diesel and road tax rates to bring them "more in line" with those of the other states in the Interstate 81 corridor and a 2.1 percent increase in the regional motor fuels tax along the I-81 corridor, Gov. Ralph Northam identified funding for the I-81 Corridor Improvement Plan. The funding plan also generates critical revenue for other interstates across the Commonwealth.

Some 627,000 Virginians will get back their licenses to drive after Gov. Northam March 26 amended legislation to eliminate the practice of suspending driving privileges for nonpayment of court fines and costs.
