$9800 planning grant awarded for new meat processing facility in Fauquier County

Fauquier County Department of Agricultural Development and the Fauquier Livestock Exchange Board of Directors have been awarded a planning grant to aid in the development of a new abattoir in Marshall. The $9,800 grant, from the Governor’s Agriculture and Forestry Industries Development (AFID) Fund Planning Grant Program, will help to establish a management structure and strategic plan for the operation of the new meat-processing facility

Fauquier County Public Schools Division Spelling Bee will be held Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, at 10 a.m. in the Taylor Middle School auditorium. Registration begins at 9 a.m. (Snow date is Saturday, Feb. 4, same time, same place.)

Community dialogue Nov. 9 on Fauquier middle schools modernization

The public is invited to participate in the second of two scheduled Community Dialogues on public middle school facilities in Fauquier County with a special focus on Taylor and Warrenton Middle Schools. The Community Dialogue will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Fauquier High School cafeteria.

Herring will host a free public screening tonight, Monday, Oct. 3, of "Heroin: The Hardest Hit," in Warrenton at 7 p.m. Described as "a powerful, award-winning new documentary," the film aims to raise awareness of the dangers of heroin and prescription drugs to try to stop the epidemic of fatal overdoses.

Kids can “touch-a-truck” in Warrenton Sept. 17

Fauquier County Parks and Recreation is hosting Touch-A-truck 2016 on Saturday, Sept. 17, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Warrenton Community Center, 431 E. Shirley Avenue.
