Department of Defense Services employees who live in eastern Prince William and work at the Mark Center in Alexandria can catch OmniRide buses locally and ride them to and from work beginning Monday, Feb. 1. The first day of operation will be a free fare day.

Dr. Sam Hill, the provost for the Woodbridge Campus of Northern Virginia Community College, a position he has held since 2005, has been selected as Grand Marshal for the Lake Ridge Santa Parade on Dec. 12. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Prince William Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Manassas/PW Center for the Arts. He is also a member of the Lake Ridge Rotary Club.

Plans for a new elementary school proposed for a site off Chinn Park Drive in Lake Ridge will be discussed at a public meeting hosted by Prince William County Schools' Office of Facilities Services, from 7 to 9:30 p.m., at Beville Middle School, 4901 Dale Boulevard, Woodbridge.

A community tradition, the Thanksgiving Day Dinner at Old Bridge United Methodist Church in Lake Ridge, is taking a year off, but will return in 2016. Old Bridge has hosted the dinner for some 20 years.

All candidates for legislative, constitutional and county offices running in the Nov. 3 general election in Prince William County will have an opportunity to mingle with prospective voters Sept. 22 at the Committee of 100 meeting.
