Northern Virginia Community College President Scott Ralls has named Dr. Molly Lynch as provost for NOVA’s Manassas Campus after a nationwide search was coduced. Lynch has been the interim provost since February 2016.

On November 26, detectives from the Prince William County Police Homicide Unit identified and arrested the suspect involved in the murder of an adult man, later identified as Samuel Enrique Godoy-Figueroa, which occurred in the 8000 block of Stream Walk Ln in Manassas on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24.

On November 25, 2016 at approximately 1 a.m. Manassas City police officers responded to the 9200 block of Byrd Drive for a report of a shooting. Officers arrived and located a male suffering from several gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.

Homicide Investigation – On November 24 at 8:20PM, officers responded to the 8000 block of Stream Walk Ln in Manassas (20109) to investigate a reported stabbing.

Scott Albrecht, a 16-year veteran of the School Board of the City of Manassas, was recently honored at the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) state conference, as School Board Member of the Year for the Northeast region. VSBA recognizes one outstanding school board member from each of the nine VSBA regions who exemplifies local involvement in promoting student achievement.

The public is invited to attend a wreath-laying ceremony Dec. 17 at noon at Manassas Cemetery. Local dignitaries, the Manassas City Police Color Guard and bagpipe, and others will present a short program including the laying of the wreaths. This is part of the Wreaths Across America movement.
