Strangulation | Assault & Battery - On Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 6:00PM, Prince William County Police officers began an investigation into an assault that was reported to have occurred in the 1800 block of Sugar Hill Dr. in Woodbridge (22192) earlier in the day.
A police department representative, Officer Adam Beard, said the victim, a 26-year-old woman, reported to police that she and an acquaintance, identified as the accused, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated. During the encounter, the accused pushed the victim before grabbing her throat. The victim was eventually able to separate from the accused and left the area with a friend.
The accused followed the victim before making contact with her and brandishing a firearm. The victim was again able to separate from the accused and contacted police later that day. Minor injuries were reported by the victim and the accused. Following the investigation, officers obtained arrest warrants for the accused, identified as Jereesa Renae CURRY.
On Sunday, June 21, police officers located the accused and took her into custody without incident at her residence in Woodbridge.
