**ARRESTS**
Attempted Murder | Arson of an Occupied Dwelling – On July 27th at 4:33AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 13700 block of Marbury Ln in Woodbridge (22191) to assist the Department of Fire and Rescue with an active fire. While investigating, detectives from the Violent Crimes Bureau and investigators from the Fire Marshal’s Office determined that the incident was arson.
A suspect was developed and identified as the accused, a juvenile, who was located at a nearby residence and detained without further incident. The investigation revealed that the accused was at an acquaintance’s residence in the above area when he was forced to leave around midnight following an altercation at the home. Officers were called and subsequently arrested the accused for drunk in public. The accused was eventually released to his parents.
Later that morning, the accused went back to the Marbury Ln residence where he set the home on fire. Four occupants of the residence, all adults, were able to get out of the home without significant injury. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Charged with 4 counts of attempted murder, 1 count of arson of an occupied dwelling and 1 count of manufacturing an explosive device/materials or fire bomb

Abduction | Burglary | Assault & Battery – On July 24th at 3:19PM, officers responded to investigation an assault which was reported to have occurred in the 3600 block of Elm Farm Rd in Woodbridge (22192) earlier that afternoon around 12:00PM. The investigation revealed that the victim, a 16 year old female juvenile of Woodbridge, was assaulted by the accused, a known acquaintance, after he forced his way into a residence where she was staying. While investigating this incident, officers learned of another assault which occurred on July 14th involving the same two parties. In that incident, the victim and the accused were in a vehicle when a verbal altercation ensued. During the encounter, the accused assaulted the victim and refused to let her get out of the vehicle. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested without incident.

Cesar Ivan VARGAS-SORIANO, 19, of 3625 Elam Farm Rd #6 in Woodbridge
Charged with 1 count of abduction, 1 count of burglary and 2 counts of assault & battery

Grand Larceny | Filing a False Police Report – On July 25th at 2:42PM, officers responded to DMV Gold and Jewelry Exchange located at 13625 Dumfries Rd (20112) to investigate an armed robbery in progress. An employee, later identified as Reem AWWAD, initially reported to police that an unknown man entered the business, displayed a knife, and demanded money and jewelry. The suspect allegedly assaulted the victim before fleeing the store with an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency and jewelry. Detectives from the Robbery Unit responded and subsequently determined that AWWAD set up the robbery and that the suspect was a known acquaintance, identified as John RANSOM Jr. Following the investigation, both suspects were arrested. Property and money reported missing was returned.

Charged with 2 counts of grand larceny and 1 count of filing a false police report

**INCIDENTS**
Malicious Wounding – On July 25th at 12:50AM, officers responded to the 14400 block of Fontaine Ct in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an assault. The investigation revealed that the victim, a 30 year old man of Woodbridge, was assaulted by the accused, a known acquaintance, while in front of a residence in the above area. A witness reported seeing the accused on top of the victim, striking him repeatedly to the face. The accused fled on foot prior to police arriving in the area. The victim was transported to an area hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Following the investigation, officers obtained a warrant against the accused.

Antonio Carlos LANE, 22, of 14402 Fontaine Ct in Woodbridge
Described as a black male, 6’0”, 170lbs with a thin build, short curly black hair, brown eyes, and an unshaven face
Wanted for malicious wounding
Strong Armed Robbery – On July 28th at 3:49AM, officers responded to investigate a robbery which was reported to have occurred in the 8200 block of Katie Lynn Ct in Gainesville (20155). The victim, a 26 year old man of Haymarket, reported to police that he received a ride from three unknown men after leaving a local establishment. The men reportedly drove the victim to the area above where he driver stopped in the cul-de-sac. At that point, the victim and 2 of the men exited the vehicle. The men assaulted the victim and took his wallet and phone before they got back into the vehicle and fled the area. Minor injuries were reported. Officers located the victim’s phone near where the incident was reported to have occurred. The victim was unable to describe the assailants.
